Assessing Movement: A Smarter Approach To Fitness

As a Performance Specialist at Activcore, I perform a comprehensive movement assessment with each new client. These tests provide a wealth of information about your movement capacity and a baseline for improving your stability, mobility, strength and resiliency. Essentially, they are a roadmap for addressing asymmetries and imbalances through the application of corrective exercises.

Some of the tests I perform may include:

  • Breathing mechanics. Do you belly breathe? Do your ribs expand in the front and back?
  • Rotation of your torso and ribcage.
  • Ability to touch your toes.
  • Shoulder range of motion. Can you reach your arms overhead? Or scratch your opposite shoulder blade?
  • Hip, knee and ankle range of motion.
  • Balance. Can you support and stabilize your own body weight through various movements?

Ultimately my objectives are to assess how you move, and to identify any underlying restrictions that hold you back from feeling, moving and performing at your absolute best. From there, I can provide exercise options tailored to your individual needs and goals.
