Erica Dekle is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) who is passionate about all aspects of exercise, sports rehabilitation (especially for swimmers), and women's health for pregnant and postpartum moms. She works at Activcore in Atlanta, Georgia, located just 2 miles from Emory University.
Erica graduated from Birmingham-Southern College in 2017 with a degree in Psychology. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Samford University. Since graduating from PT school, she has received advanced training in strength and conditioning training, return-to-sport programming for youth athletes, and trigger point dry needling with level 1 and level 2 certifications. She is also learning how to use the Redcord suspension system to help her clients regain control of their body's core stabilizer muscles.
Erica’s biggest inspiration for choosing a career in physical therapy is her father. Also a physical therapist, he has been practicing for almost 30 years and truly enjoys what he does. One summer in college, Erica shadowed at her dad’s PT clinic and fell in love with the relationships formed between the providers and their patients.
Erica has always had a passion for health and wellness. She grew up swimming competitively at both the high school and collegiate level. So pursuing the field of physical therapy was a natural fit for her.
Erica has worked in outpatient sports settings since graduating PT school. She has experience working with a wide range of orthopedic and post-operative conditions, as well as return to sport programming. In particular, she has become passionate about helping swimmers and other active populations, especially those with ACL knee injuries.
Erica’s treatment style includes a combination of manual therapy interventions such as soft tissue mobilization, cupping, dry needling, and joint mobilizations. She also applies strength training and Low Pressure Fitness for optimizing function of their muscles.
Erica chose to work at Activcore because she believes that physical therapy should be tailored to each individual person. The one-on-one approach is a huge differentiator between Activcore and other PT clinics. She believes this quality is critical to the success of her treatments.
When not at Activcore, Erica enjoys exploring her new city of Atlanta, going to the beach, hiking, and taking her family boat out to Gulf Shores and Mobile Bay where she grew up.
Dr. Erica Dekle is a true rockstar. She quickly understood my unique knee and ankle issue, and spent time researching some creative ways to rehab and strengthen. After seeing other PTs, I thought I was going to have to give up my professional career as a referee. But Erica got me back to running in 1 month (after 6 months of no luck elsewhere)!
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Erica Dekle! Throughout my marathon training, she took time to check in and make sure I was feeling good and performing my best. I got a hip injury 2 weeks before my race and she got me in the clinic for multiple appointments to help me maximize my performance for the marathon. I would highly recommend going to Activcore Physical Therapy if you want quality one-on-one care!!
Dr. Erica Dekle SAVED my back. I was 10 weeks postpartum and got the most excruciating lower back spasms that were close in intensity to labor. I could not walk or change positions unassisted. Dr. Erica fit me in the next day and even asked a Pilates client to reschedule when she saw how debilitated I was and that I would need a two-hour appointment. Over just 2 sessions she got me to a functional place where I could walk and was not in intense pain. She clearly had a wide array of tools to utilize; and when I shared her techniques with my sister-in-law (also a PT) she was very impressed by what Dr. Erica utilizes. Dr. Erica correctly diagnosed my lower back spasms and also determined they were likely exacerbated by dehydration. She suggested an IV of fluids. I got the IV and did the prescribed exercises for 4 days and by my next appointment with her I could walk, stand, and sit on my own. I am so grateful for Dr. Erica and thrilled that she is also certified in pelvic floor PT. I plan to keep seeing her for postpartum recovery beyond just my back. She was very knowledgeable about the other connected postpartum issues that were factoring into my lower back spasms.
I met my phenomenal physical therapist, Dr. Erica Dekle, on my first day at Activcore! I had scheduled a private Gyrotonic session, but because of a scheduling snafu, I was introduced to Dr. Erica instead... and I have since added weekly PT sessions to my normal routine! For many months, she has been wonderful to help me with specific imbalances. I’ve discovered my love for being dry needled! She has also introduced me to new modalities for my pelvic floor dysfunction. THEN, I fractured my shoulder. OH MAN, was I grateful to already have Dr. Erica on my team. I knew I was in great hands and even opted to stay with her as opposed to going to the PT my surgeon uses. She knows and loves the human body, and is constantly expanding her wealth of knowledge, putting it into practice. I can’t say enough!! Let’s just say I’m grateful for the blessing of that scheduling snafu!!!
Dr. Erica Dekle is absolutely amazing! After years of pain in my lower back and legs due to various injuries throughout my lacrosse career, she has helped me find a level of comfort that I haven’t felt in years! She’s incredibly thorough and descriptive with explaining the exercises and stretches. She is always sure everything is comfortable and painless! You can tell that she is dedicated to making you feel your best at the end of each season. If you ever need to get PT go see Dr. Dekle! She is the absolute best!
Activcore has been so beneficial for me! I have been seeing Dr. Erica Dekle for a couple weeks now. My wife has been with her now a few months as well. We have both seen great progress. Very happy with the care we are receiving. Erica is super knowledgeable about a wide variety of healing techniques, including needling, cupping, Redcord, massage, and the list goes on. It’s great to have a practitioner that you can trust to use the right healing/strengthening the body needs, at the time it needs it. Very happy and looking forward to continuing our care here.
Dr. Erica is amazing! I have chronic neck, jaw and shoulder pain and with very few sessions had SO much relief! I’ve had some reservations with dry needling in the past but Erica has really helped ease my anxiety and helped me realize how helpful it can really be! Added bonus, as wild as the Redcord looks, I found it super helpful in making me focus on engaging the correct muscles in my neck & shoulder. Would highly recommend Erica & this facility!!!
Dr. Erica is very approachable, professional & she knows what she is doing. I would recommend her to everyone who needs physical therapy treatment.
I have always struggled with headaches and TMJ/neck pain. Nothing seemed to help! I recently started going to Dr. Erica Dekle at Activcore for dry needling, and it truly is the best thing I have ever done! My headaches are practically gone and my jaw and neck feel 100 times better. THANK YOU ACTIVCORE AND ERICA! Highly recommend them!!
I have really enjoyed my services from Dr. Erica with Activcore! Each session has been highly personalized and effective. Erica listens well and acts accordingly to give the best results. My pain and tight hips are a lot less symptomatic than before. If you are nervous about stepping into a physical therapy setting, give Activcore a shot. You’re never a number there.
Dr. Erica Dekle is a wonderful PT! She is super knowledgeable, kind, and a great listener. She helped me prepare for knee surgery, and provided immense support after my surgery as well so that I could get back to running as soon as possible. Highly recommend her!
Words cannot describe how thankful I am for Dr. Erica Dekle. As an avid runner who was not able to run, Erica was always there to motivate me. She is extremely kind, knowledgeable and patient. She takes the time to teach her exercises, and makes sure that each one is done correctly. Erica took the time to treat me as a person, not just an injury and would even step in to work on other pains that popped up as I was getting back into running. On top of that, Erica became a friend and made physical therapy a fun doctors appointment! I can easily say she's one of the main reasons I am able to get back into running. Erica is absolutely incredible to work with and I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat!
