Following surgical procedures, the body is focused on healing. However, the surgical process can leave you with tissue and musculoskeletal changes that impact daily function. Your body adapts in the short term, but for sustainable movement in the long-term, those musculoskeletal changes need to be addressed. Aftercare for gender affirming surgeries should include physical therapy to optimize healing, address post-operative scars and tissue changes, and restore safe, pain-free movement.

It is our goal at Activcore to provide a safe, inclusive space so that all people can feel comfortable, accepted, and motivated to achieve their goals. We recognize the need for the LGBTQ+ community to have a place in the practice that is both accessible and able to meet your individual needs.
Activcore physical therapists have specialized training to provide treatment specific to the needs of the LGBTQ+ population. More specifically, our pelvic health therapists have undergone advanced training in order to be able to address the specific therapeutic needs of individuals who have undergone gender-affirmation surgeries. Our physical therapists are qualified to evaluate the musculoskeletal system inclusive of the pelvic floor and use these findings to create a treatment plan for optimal health and wellness.
Pelvic health is typically not a big part of a physical therapist’s education. It is a specialization requiring much further study, training and practice following graduation.
Activcore physical therapists are uniquely qualified to assess and treat pelvic floor dysfunction. They go beyond the pelvic floor and look at the whole body. Equipped with the Redcord suspension system and other industry leading tools, they are specially trained to optimize how your mind and pelvis work together so that you can regain control of your body.
You’re never just a number at Activcore. You will have your own dedicated pelvic health physical therapist (not an aide) by your side throughout every session. In a private office setting, your physical therapist will perform a comprehensive physical exam and movement screen to help determine the underlying root cause of your pelvic health condition. Together, you and your provider will then develop and commit to a plan of care tailored to your individual needs, lifestyle and goals.
You will feel the Activcore difference from your first visit. This is a highly personalized experience applying the latest breakthrough techniques in pelvic health, such as pelvic floor muscle retraining, trigger point dry needling, manual therapy (myofascial release), neuromuscular activation, and biofeedback. You will also receive a home exercise program customized just for you. Once your pain has been addressed, you will have the opportunity to continue honing your movement through Activcore's Low Pressure Fitness program.

"My physical therapist has taught me not just to get back to where I was before surgery, but more importantly what I can do to be in even better shape. I'd recommend Activcore to people who sincerely want to get better and improve themselves. This has been a difficult commitment but one of the most important investments I could have made in myself."
