One of the domains of pelvic health is sexual health. In PT, we consider the role of the pelvic floor muscles as part of the greater system of the body and how they play into the sexual response cycle. Many sexual dysfunctions have roots in pelvic floor dysfunction. The pelvic floor moves and changes depending on where the body is in the sexual response cycle.
• Pelvic pain
• Pain during intercourse
• Pain after intercourse
• Erectile Dysfunction
• Pelvic floor dysfunctions (bowel, bladder, pain)
• Core weakness
• Low back pain
We recognize that sexual functioning is multifactorial in nature and is determined based on the coordination of multiple systems. We work with other healthcare professionals to find and treat the root cause of sexual dysfunction in order to optimize your sexual health.
Pelvic health is typically not a big part of a physical therapist’s education. It is a specialization requiring much further study, training and practice following graduation.
Activcore physical therapists are uniquely qualified to assess and treat pelvic floor dysfunction. They go beyond the pelvic floor and look at the whole body. Equipped with the Redcord suspension system and other industry leading tools, they are specially trained to optimize how your mind and pelvis work together so that you can regain control of your body.
You’re never just a number at Activcore. You will have your own dedicated pelvic health physical therapist (not an aide) by your side throughout every session. In a private office setting, your physical therapist will perform a comprehensive physical exam and movement screen to help determine the underlying root cause of your pelvic health condition. Together, you and your provider will then develop and commit to a plan of care tailored to your individual needs, lifestyle and goals.
You will feel the Activcore difference from your first visit. This is a highly personalized experience applying the latest breakthrough techniques in pelvic health, such as pelvic floor muscle retraining, trigger point dry needling, manual therapy (myofascial release), neuromuscular activation, and biofeedback. You will also receive a home exercise program customized just for you. Once your pain has been addressed, you will have the opportunity to continue honing your movement through Activcore's Low Pressure Fitness program.

"My Activcore PT completely impressed me. I saw her for treatment after enduring an uncomfortable physical condition for many months. From the moment I met her and visited with her, I could tell she was different from physical therapists I had seen in the past. She was compassionate, motivated to help me feel better and get back to fully experiencing the activities I love, and committed to helping me identify ways to help myself outside of our appointments. Every appointment I had was well planned and built on my previous appointments, allowing me to maximize my time with the physical therapist and achieve results quickly. I so appreciated how she took time to help me understand what was going on with my body and the purpose of the different stretches, exercises, and weight routines that we did (knowledge is powerful), and how she helped me identify things in my daily routines that were contributing to my condition. Thanks for taking care of your patients, Activcore!"
