Lisa Harlan is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) who specializes in orthopedics with a passion for helping dancers, active women, and others recover from injury and move well without pain. She works at Activcore in Atlanta, Georgia, located just 2 miles from Emory University.

Lisa graduated from the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine in 2009 and has more than 15 years of experience as a physical therapist. She is also a graduate of Polestar Pilates training program and became a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher in 2010. Lisa has an interest in manual therapy and has completed continuing education courses by St Augustine spinal manipulation, myofascial release with John Barnes, fascial manipulation with Myopain Seminars, and Kinesiotaping courses. She is certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling with Kinetacore. Lisa also has a special interest in cancer rehabilitation and is Pink Ribbon certified.

Lisa grew up doing ballet and danced professionally for Georgia Ballet and for Momentum Dance Company while in PT school. Dancing gave her a love for watching movement and a keen eye for detail. As a Mom, she has realized the importance of movement and activity for health (and mental sanity!). Lisa believes every person should be able to participate in the physical activities that they enjoy doing.

Furthermore, Lisa has much experience working with people with spine diagnoses (scoliosis, stenosis, postural dysfunction, etc.) and loves to incorporate Pilates based exercises and theories into her physical therapy treatments.

Lisa joined Activcore because she believes in treating one person at a time for the best outcomes. The combination of equipment available at Activcore allows for endless possibilities for improved motion and strength.

While not at work, Lisa is trying to keep up with her husband and two sons.

My Reviews

Lisa is a great PT and Pilates instructor. I feel much stronger after starting with her.

Dr. Lisa Harlan was a literal lifesaver! She helped me recover from a very stubborn pinched nerve that was causing me severe pain. Emory Spine had a 4+ week (!!) waiting list just to start Physical Therapy there; Lisa was able to schedule me the same week. She was very helpful and encouraging, working 1:1 with me for pain management as well as strengthening exercises. She was extraordinarily responsive via both text and email, as well as graciously accommodating when it came to scheduling (or rescheduling). I would highly recommend her if you need a physical therapist, she will be my first call should I need one again in the future.

I highly recommend Dr. Lisa Harlan. I’m a pediatric occupational therapist so I put my body through a lot everyday at work and age is becoming a factor (I’m in my 50’s). Lisa has helped me find my core and activate it again. I can get off the floor more quickly than before and crawl, run, and jump with the little ones again. She has also helped ease my pain and discomfort from overusing other muscles when I lost my core (from 2 traumatic C-sections) after my children were born. Best my body has felt in a long time. Lisa has experience, knowledge and passion for her craft - she has the science knowledge but she also has the ‘art’ down as an expert and master clinician. Go see the PT that other therapists see for their aching bodies!!! Always professional and extremely knowledgeable.
