Yes this blog post is all about me. But really it's more about how I can help you!

Why did you choose to come to work at Activcore?

I have known for some time that I only want to work somewhere that offers clients one-on-one treatments. I realized after working in several different settings that this is the way to get the best results for clients because you can focus on them for a full hour. I ran my own small business for several years and realized that I am not good at trying to do everything needed to run a successful business! I realized I want to focus on treating and teaching Pilates. So I looked for options close by where I can merge my own clients and continue to treat clients the way that they can get better the fastest.

Another reason I chose Activcore is because of the Performance team. Often, in typical insurance clinics, PT’s discharge clients as soon as their pain is improved. If people stop doing their exercises or perhaps fall back into a faulty movement pattern again, they are right back where they started. At Activcore, there is a team of Performance professionals who can continue to work with clients to continue their health and wellness journey.

What kind of clients do you work with?

I work with orthopedic clients and enjoy helping active adults get back to doing what they love to do. I love helping women, and can relate to Moms who are trying to keep themselves strong and fit while raising kids.

What are you learning now?

I am beginning to learn how to use the Redcord suspension system to correct kinetic chain imbalances. I am also taking a Menopause and Peri-menopause continuing education course in April. I am really excited about both. I think that menopausal women are an underserved population and I’m excited to learn more about what I can do to support them.

What will a treatment with you look like?

I typically begin a treatment with manual therapy: which can include dry needling, soft tissue massage, cupping, and mobilization. Then I try to reinforce whatever gains we made with manual therapy with movement. I like incorporating Pilates exercises because I can often see asymmetries and movement tendencies better when someone is going through exercises on the Reformer. Pilates is a form of neuromuscular re-education which means we are teaching the body to move in a new or different way.

What do you do outside of work?

I have a family with two boys, ages 8 and 11. My husband is a finance analyst and an Alabama football fan. My kids attend elementary school and are active in soccer and flag football.

How do you get in touch with me?

I am available for appointments in our Atlanta, Georgia location. To get started contact Activcore Druid Hills

How Can Pilates Help My Scoliosis?

I love Pilates! So naturally, I think that it is an awesome modality for most physical therapy diagnoses. But it has been shown to be especially beneficial for people with scoliosis. I was trained by Polestar Pilates and their principles are: breath, axial elongation, movement integration, organization of head, neck and shoulders, spinal articulation, centering, control, flow and precision.

How Can Pilates Help My Back Pain?

Exercise has long been proven to relieve low back pain (LBP). Many studies show that being physically active is a better approach than avoiding movement when it comes to addressing chronic LBP. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Pilates Teacher, I have many years of experience helping people in the Atlanta area overcome chronic pain by incorporating Pilates exercises into their treatment programs.
