Yes this blog post is all about me. But really it's more about how I can help you.
1. Why did I choose to join the Activcore team in Atlanta? I chose to work at Activcore because I believe patients deserve one-on-one holistic care that is uniquely tailored to their individual needs.
2. Which Activcore location do I work at? I primarily work at Activcore in Johns Creek, Georgia. This is a boutique clinic located inside a popular personal training studio called the Medical Fitness and Wellness Group.
3. What's my position on the team? I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) focusing on orthopedic conditions with a special interest in helping active, athletic populations recover from injury. I especially enjoy working with female soccer players.
4. Why soccer? I grew up in Roswell, Georgia playing competitive soccer from a young age. I had many injuries throughout my career, and after tearing my ACL, I participated in eight months of physical therapy. It was during my recovery that I decided that physical therapy was the career for me. I fell in love with the impact the mind-body relationship has on a person’s quality of life and decided to pursue a career to help others heal from injury.
5. Where did I get my education? I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 2018 and my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Emory University’s School of Medicine in 2021. While at Emory, I was also trained in Advanced Extremities, Nutrition in Physical Therapy, and Dry Needling Levels 1 and 2.
6. What's my treatment style? I provide a holistic approach to physical therapy that applies bio-psycho-social components for an individualized, tailored experience. Typically my treatment methods include a combination of skilled manual therapy, cupping, dry needling, and soft tissue mobilization. I also use the Redcord suspension system to teach my patients how to rebalance their muscles through the power of neuromuscular activation.
7. Besides Redcord, what other progressive exercise tools do I use? I am certified in the Gyrotonic Expansion System. This is a unique exercise movement system that uses specialized equipment and fluid movements to build muscle strength, decompress the spine, and increase your range of motion. As a physical therapist, I apply this technique to treat the client holistically by improving flexibility, strength, coordination, balance, and identifying any asymmetries.
8. What about dry needling? I am certified in trigger point dry needling. This is an advanced form of manual therapy that involves the insertion of needles into tender points in the body without the injection of any substance. The needle is used to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular, and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.
9. What are some of my interests/hobbies outside of work? When not at Activcore, I enjoy spending time on the Beltline, playing recreational soccer, being on the lake, and spending time with friends and family.
10. How do you get in touch with me? I am available for appointments in our Johns Creek, Georgia location. To get started contact Activcore Johns Creek.
